PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint collation device having superior operability and maintainability, and high reliability. SOLUTION: The fingerprint comparison device comprises: a fingerprint sensor 1; a fouling adhesion protective film 2 arranged on the surface of the fingerprint sensor 1; a winding roller 3 moving the wound fouling adhesion protective film 2; a roller driving section 4 turnably driving the winding roller 3; a film cleaner 5 arranged in proximity to the winding roller 3 and removing fouling attached to the surface of the fouling adhesion protective film 2; a fingerprint data storage device 6 on which a plurality of fingerprint data are previously registered; and a processing section 7 collating fingerprint data read by the fingerprint sensor 1 with the fingerprint data previously registered on the fingerprint data storage device 6, determining whether or not the area of fouling portion of a fingerprint image exceeds a predetermined setting value or more, and controlling the operation of the roller driving section 4 in accordance with the determination result.
