PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to operate the carriage by an optimum setting from the starting of the operation as an optimum control gain is selected by detecting a load after once operating a carriage. SOLUTION: In the case where the carriage 3 is driven by a DC servo motor 4, a control value to be applied to the DC servo motor 4 is stored in a correction value table storing section 103 as a correction value (base offset) when the carriage 3 is moved at a constant speed. A PI control arithmetic section 112 for performing PI controlling based on a deviation calculates a designation value for the PI controlling based on an offset obtained beforehand according to the speed of the carriage in each print mode by experiment and the base offset, and carries out the PI controlling.
