PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spool valve of which flow rate characteristic is smoothly changed by steplessly changing its opening characteristic. SOLUTION: This spool valve comprises a valve housing H, a spool hole 29 formed on the valve housing H, a spool S slidably assembled in the spool hole 29, an annular groove 21 formed on the spool S, land parts 22, 23 adjacent to the annular groove 21, and notches 24, 25 communicated with the annular groove 21 and formed on land parts 22, 23.
