INFORMATION PROTECTION SYSTEM, STORAGE MEDIUM USED FOR THE SAME, AND STORAGE MEDIUM CONTAINING CASE

There is provided a simple and low-cost information protection system for preventing intrusion by a hacker and protecting data stored in a separate storage medium. There are also provided a storage medium used for the system and a storage medium containing case. A storage medium such as an optical disc includes: a storage unit containing information data and predetermined application program data for controlling at least an external device; and an electronic circuit unit for reading out data from the storage unit and controlling the external device according to the application program read out. The storage unit further includes permission information used for controlling whether to permit access to the storage unit. A plurality of storage media are contained in a containing case. Only a person authenticated as a registered -in-advance person can take predetermined storage media out of the storage medium containing case. The storage media taken out are mounted on a plurality of external devices. When accessing from the external device to the storage medium, access is enabled only if permission is OK according to the permission information.
