PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a processing time at the time of color image output in a color copying apparatus equipped with a tandem type engine. SOLUTION: A color of Y having the least influence on image quality based on human vision property is treated as a primary color out of output colors Y, M, C, K, and hereinafter the following output process is carried out from color of M to color C and color K. While a normal process is carried out in a system, in which an image path passing through an image processing unit 20 is bypassed at an intermediate switching unit 801b to the side of a page memory processing device 910, and then the image pass is turned again through the intermediate switching unit 801b to the original image path, the images of color of M, color of C and color of K are subjected to prescribed image processes. The color of Y is subjected to a through print processing, which omits the bypass of the image path and does not pass through a page memory processing device 910. In this way, the image process can be carried out by absorbing a tandem gap between the color of Y and the color of M so that an output processing time FCOT after emitting an output command until output object is ejected can be shortened.
