PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lipped shape steel or a lipped channel steel while extending the lip length C of a lipped channel steel or a lipped Z-shaped steel having a plate thickness of < 2.3 mm to a range that the strength has been heretofore considered to decrease. SOLUTION: The plate thickness t is <2.3 mm and the lip length Cd is optimized by the formula; Cd=-0.0032A<SP>2</SP>+0.8A-7.5, the lip length Cd has an upper limit of Cd=-0.0032A<SP>2</SP>+0.8A+ 1 and a lower limit of Cd=-0.0032A<SP>2</SP>+ 0.8A -16, Accordingly, Cd is partitioned by these ranges.
