<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion apparatus capable of suppressing a neutral potential variation through convenient control with no restriction on control. <P>SOLUTION: The power conversion apparatus comprises a 2-level converter 2 for converting an AC power being inputted from an AC power supply through a transformer 1 into a DC power, positive side and negative side smoothing capacitors 3A and 3B connected to obtain a 3-level DC voltage by dividing the DC output voltage from the two level converter 2 into two, a three level inverter 4 for converting a 3-level DC voltage into an AC voltage, a bidirectionally conductible semiconductor switch 6 provided between the neutral on the secondary of the transformer 1 and the neutral of the smoothing capacitors 3A and 3B, detectors 7A and 7B for detecting the quantity of electricity of the smoothing capacitors 3A and 3B, and a means 8 for controlling the conducting direction of the semiconductor switch 6 to sustain a constant voltage at the neutral of the smoothing capacitors 3A and 3B depending on the quantity of electricity detected by the detectors 7A and 7B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
