PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable recognition of a file fragmented into blocks. SOLUTION: This storage system comprises a storage medium for storing data in hierarchical data structures, which includes blocks specified by block addresses, each hierarchical data structure, including data objects of a plurality of levels and being stored in each group of the blocks; and a controller for generating, in response to a request including at least one identifier of the hierarchical data structure, one or more block addresses, based on the identifier and accessing one or plural blocks, indicated by the one or plural block addresses.
