PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring sensor capable of measuring the distance to an object with an inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: This sensor is equipped with a wave transmission means for transmitting an AM-modulated transmission signal, a wave reception means for receiving a reception signal which is a signal formed by reflecting the transmission signal by an object, a signal extraction means for mixing the transmission signal with the reception signal, a phase adjustment means for changing phases of the transmission signal and the reception signal. In the sensor, the distance to the object is estimated from the phase shift quantity when the amplitude of a composite signal composed of a signal whose phase is shifted by the phase adjustment means and the transmission signal becomes maximum.
