PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the durability against high temperature exhaust gas of a flexible tube installed in the pipe of the exhaust gas recirculation passage of an exhaust gas recirculating device taking out recirculation exhaust gas from the downstream side of the exhaust gas treatment device of a cross-flow multi-cylinder engine and supplying it to an intake passage. SOLUTION: A water-cooled recirculation exhaust gas cooler 9 is disposed on the outside of an insulator 7 covering an exhaust manifold 5. The recirculation exhaust gas taken out from the downstream side of a catalytic converter 6 is fed to the water-cooled recirculation exhaust gas cooler 9 through a metal tube 18, fed from the water-cooled recirculation exhaust gas cooler 9 to a water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation control unit 11 through the flexible tube 19, and distributedly supplied to the intake passages of the cylinders. Also, a cooling water passage is formed so as to feed a cooling water taken out from cylinder heads 2 to the water-cooled recirculation exhaust gas cooler 9 through the water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation control valve unit 11 and return it to the suction side cooling water passage of a water pump.
