An apparatus for encapsulating printed wiring 11 with at least one flexible film 23 comprises means 24 for applying adhesive to the film and a pair of rollers, the first of which 16 has a plurality of substantially continuous, generally transversely extending ribs protruding radially outwards from its surface, the second roller 15 having a substantially resilient surface. The ribs on the first roller are preferably of a V-form, with the apex contacting the laminate to be pressed first. The adhesive applying assembly suitably comprises a reservoir 28, an applicator roll 25 and a further roll 27 to assist the uniform spreading of the adhesive. The printed wiring substrate and the covering film are both suitably polyethylene terephthalate, and in this case the adhesive is preferably a polyethylene terephthalate dispersion. |
