PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid fuel sensor which is easily manufactured and quickly and surely sensing a liquid fuel, and a combustion apparatus using the liquid fuel sensor and improving the safety. SOLUTION: The liquid fuel sensor 10 is provided with a housing member 30 internally, having a plurality of minute communication spaces and formed from a material with lipophilicity for infiltrating the liquid fuel by capillary phenomenon, an expansion member 13 accommodated within the housing member 30 and expanding and adsorbing the liquid fuel infiltrated by the housing member 30, a pressure-receiving and moving member 12 for moving and receiving expansion force of the expansion member 13, and a sensing switch 50 opened and closed by pressure from the pressure receiving and moving member 12.
