PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bactericide composition for food having a wide antibacterial spectrum with a small amount of its use and good in storage stability. SOLUTION: The bactericide composition for food is such one that thiamine cetyl sulfate and thiamine lauryl sulfate are dissolved in an aqueous solution containing ethyl alcohol or acetic acid. In this composition, the weight ratio of the thiamine cetyl sulfate to thiamine lauryl sulfate is e.g. (1:99) to (99:1). A preferable embodiment of this composition is as follows: containing 1-65 wt.% of the total of the thiamine cetyl sulfate and thiamine lauryl sulfate, and containing 20-95 wt.% of the ethyl alcohol or acetic acid.
