PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce number of power supply wires which supply voltages to pixel circuits.

SOLUTION: Pixels 2 are arranged corresponding to respective crossings of scanning lines Y1 to Yn and data lines X1 to Xm and are commonly connected to mutually adjacent power supply lines (L1 and L2, for example) among power supply lines L1 to Ln+1 that are provided corresponding to the scanning lines Y1 to Yn. A scanning line driving circuit 3 selects a scanning line Y by outputting a scanning signal to the scanning lines Y1 to Yn. A power supply line controlling circuit 6 sets variable voltages of the power supply lines L1 to Ln+1 in synchronism with the selection of the scanning line Y by the scanning line driving circuit 3.
