PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for manufacturing a fullerenic acid halide useful as a production intermediate of drugs or electronic materials. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the fullerenic acid halide comprises reacting a fullerenic acid such as fullerenic acetic acid chloride which is treated with a mixed solvent containing an ether solvent and a halogen solvent (preferably a mixed solvent of dichloromethane and 1,4-dioxane) with a halogenation agent in the above mixed solvent.
