An apparatus for playing an audio signal having an audio data mixing function is provided to mix audio data digitally using a conventional hardware without an additional analog hardware for mixing the audio data. An apparatus for playing an audio signal having an audio data mixing, where a digital audio source data is played, comprises an audio input processing portion(105), an audio output processing portion(109) and a digital mixing portion(107). The audio input processing portion receives a first audio data from an audio storing portion(101), decodes the first audio data and stores the first audio data in an audio output buffer(11). The audio output processing portion reads a mixed audio data from a corresponding region in the audio output buffer and output to a digital/analog converter(103). The digital mixing portion detects that the first audio data is stored a corresponding region in the audio output buffer, reads the stored first audio data before the first audio data is processed, operates the first audio data with a second audio data input from the audio data storing portion to mix the two audio data, and stores the mixed audio data in a corresponding region, which is identical to a position where the first audio data is stored.
