DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE, AND LUMINAIRE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic ballast which can respond to the extension of a lamp circuit without problems and is satisfactory in lamp startability. SOLUTION: A discharge lamp lighting device has a DC power supply circuit 1 generating a DC voltage from the power of an AC power supply Vs, a polarity inversion circuit 3 converting the DC voltage into an AC voltage and supplying the AC voltage to a discharge lamp DL, and an ignitor circuit generating a high voltage pulse for staring, where the discharge lamp lighting device can be divided into a power supply side circuit A connected to the AC power supply Vs and a load side circuit B which is connected to the discharge lamp DL, the power supply side circuit A and the load side circuit B are connected to each other by the output power lines for extension; and the ignitor circuit is a resonant ignitor circuit which applies a resonant pulse voltage between both terminals of the discharge lamp DL and ignites the discharge lamp DL; the resonant pulse voltage is generated between both terminals of a capacitor C3 by resonance operation of an inductor L3 and the capacitor C3 connected in series.
