<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure distance in a blooming region. <P>SOLUTION: A stereo image processor measures the distance between an object in a view field, using a pair of images as a standard image imaged by stereo cameras 1, 2 and a reference image, and is provided with a luminance gradient detecting means 14 for detecting positive and negative luminance gradients in the standard image in the direction of an epipolar line, and a parallax searching means 14 for searching a region which has high correlation with one or two observed regions in the standard image which includes the positive and negative luminance gradients and finding a parallax. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
