PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold compatibility for a disk for reproduction even while recording is not finished perfectly, that is, in a state of the midst of recording, in a recording operation for an information recording medium having a plurality of recording layers. SOLUTION: An information recording medium 2 such as two layers DVD+RW being able to rewrite data and having a plurality of recording layers is made to be the object, logic compatibility can be secured for two layers DVD even while the recording for the medium is not completed by recording the prescribed data (e.g. Dummy Data ) in an unrecorded region of the second layer corresponding to an already recorded layer (User Data) of a layer 0 (the first layer) with the prescribed timing, then it can be guaranteed that read-out can be performed normally by a DVD drive for reproduction only.
