<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove various impurities, particularly colored impurities from an ionic liquid which cause troubles when the ionic liquid, to which it is hard to apply general purification treatments such as distillation, recrystallization or a column treatment, is used as an electrolyte or a solvent for (photo)electrochemical devices such as dye-sensitizing solar cells. <P>SOLUTION: The ionic liquid containing impurities is treated with a metal hydride such as sodium borohydride, lithium borohydride, lithium aluminum hydride or sodium aluminum hydride. As the metal hydride, boron-based metal hydride complex compounds are particularly preferable from the viewpoint of simpleness of post-reaction processes and wide latitude of solvents for the reaction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
