<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized image forming apparatus in which a plurality of developing units can be stored in a stacked condition and bending of the developing units is prevented and developing units to be stored in the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the developing unit 46, a roll 52 is rotatably journaled by a bearing 57 provided on the bottom surface 47b of a unit case 47. Furthermore, an abutting part 53 which is flat and has the same width to its front part is provided by using the top surface part in the side surface 47c of the unit case 47. When the plurality of developing units 46 are stacked and stored into the storing part 41 of the image forming apparatus 1, the front of the developing unit 46 is positioned by making both end parts 51a of a developing roll shaft 51 abut on a guiding groove 42.
