PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an estimating method of the powdering amount of coke which is capable of simply and quickly estimating the powdering amount of coke accompanying the deterioration of coke by the CO<SB>2</SB>reaction. SOLUTION: The method is an estimating method of the powdering amount of coke accompanying the deterioration of the coke that has been reacted with CO<SB>2</SB>under heated environment, which has the first step of determining the porosity distribution in the coke lump after reaction with CO<SB>2</SB>, the second step of calculating the critical porosity that is a porosity capable of resisting against the powdering of the coke lump after the reaction, and the third step of estimating the powdering amount of the coke lump on the basis of the porosity distribution in the coke lump determined by the first step and of the critical porosity of the coke lump calculated by the second step.
