<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is reduced in the number of color drift correction times, correction time, toner consumption, and apparatus cost as the image forming apparatus which performs color drift correction by using a color drift-detecting pattern (patch). <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a color drift detecting unit consisting of: a color drift-detecting pattern (patch) generating means for performing the control to form the color drift-detecting pattern (patch) by each of the respective colors on an image conveying means by an image forming unit at the time of color drift detection operation; and a detecting sensor for detecting the color drift-detecting pattern (patch) and corrects the color drift based on the color drift detection signal detected by the color drift detecting unit, wherein the sizes of the color drift-detecting pattern (patch) and detecting sensor are appropriately determined according to the sizes of carrier particles and toner particles constituting the color drift-detecting pattern (patch), the amount of slippage of the apparatus, the amount of fluctuation due to an environmental change, etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
