<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the difference between the transfer efficiency of a color print mode and that of a monochrome print mode. <P>SOLUTION: In the color print mode, an intermediate transfer belt 7 stretches in a straight line along photoreceptor drums 3a to 3d and is in contact with a first tension roller 6a. The angle at which the intermediate transfer belt 7 is in contact with the photoreceptor drum 3a is θ1. In the monochrome print mode, the intermediate transfer belt 7 is pushed up by a second tension roller 35 and a third tension roller 36 so that it is separated from the photoreceptors 3b to 3d, but guided down by the first tension roller 6a so as to be in contact with the photoreceptor drum 3a such that the angle θ1 at which the intermediate transfer belt 7 is in contact with the photoreceptor drum 3a is maintained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
