<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to a status request without recovering an ordinary mode from an energy saving mode even in a comparatively small-scale network system. <P>SOLUTION: In the energy saving mode, an ASIC 211 is operated to decide the contents of a frame received via a network controller 213 and when the contents of the received frame are decided as a status request, a transmission request bit is set. When the transmission request bit is set, a status frame is created by referring to status information or the like stored in a status register 215 provided independently of a CPU 252 provided in a system 251, and the created status frame is transferred to the network controller 213 by a DMA controller 217. Thus, when the status request is received from external equipment in the energy saving mode, it is possible to deal with the status request while maintaining the energy saving mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
