A field emission device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to simplify manufacturing procedures and achieve improved yield rate by forming an insulation layer through a screen printing method and forming a gate electrode on the insulation layer. A field emission device comprises a gate line(51) formed on a glass substrate(50); an insulation layer(52) formed on the gate line by a pattern such that a certain part of the gate line is exposed; a cathode electrode(53) formed on the insulation layer; and a gate electrode(54) connected to the exposed gate line and formed on the plane where the cathode electrode is formed. A carbon nanotube(55) is formed on the cathode electrode.
