PERFLUOROELASTOMER SEALING MATERIAL

A perfluoroelastomer sealing material which is improved in adhesion strength and in the property of not contaminating, corroding, or discoloring the surface in contact therewith. The content of uncrosslinked polymer components in the sealing material as determined under specific conditions is 1 wt.% or lower. Also provided is a process for producing the sealing material. When the perfluoroelastomer sealing material is immersed in perfluorotri-n-butylamine at 60°C for 70 hours, taken out therefrom, and dried at 90°C for 5 hours, at 125°C for 5 hours, and subsequently at 200°C for 10 hours, then the sealing material has a percentage loss of weight of 1 wt.% or lower. The process for producing the perfluoroelastomer sealing material comprises a step in which a molded perfluoroelastomer is treated with a solvent in which the molded elastomer has a degree of swelling of 50% or higher through immersion at 60°C for 70 hours.
