GELATINE-COATED ALGINATE FIBER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bio-compatible fiber having a smooth surface and obtained by a simple production operation.

SOLUTION: This fiber is obtained by coating gelatine on the surface of an alginate fiber, and the method for producing the same comprises a process of extruding an aqueous alginic acid solution into an aqueous solution containing gelatine and an alkaline earth metallic ion for performing the coagulation of an alginic acid fiber and gelatine coating simultaneously.
