Provided are a negative electrode for a lithium battery where a barrier layer are uniformly in physical contact with a lithium metal to allow the reaction at a negative electrode be occurred uniformly, its preparation method, and a lithium battery containing the negative electrode which is improved in lifetime characteristics and capacity characteristics. The negative electrode(12) comprises a lithium metal; and a barrier layer(13) comprising an inorganic material and a polymer in a ratio of 50-90 : 50-10 by weight formed on the lithium metal. Preferably the inorganic material is selected from the group consisting of silica, alumina, titanium oxide, zeolite, silicate and barium titanium oxide; and the polymer is selected from the group consisting of a polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer, a polytetrafluoroethylene-based polymer, a poly(vinyl chloride)-based polymer, a poly(vinyl alcohol)-based polymer, a polyimide-based polymer and a polyethylene oxide-based polymer. |
