<p>A valve drive mechanism is designed as a piezoelectric actuator. At a preset time, a valve element (VE) moves into a valve seating (VS) from a position away from a VS. A signal characterizes a piezoelectric voltage (VINJ) and its branching-off is determined. A time is identified for the VE to meet the VS if the branching-off exceeds a preset first threshold value (SW1). An independent claim is also included for a device for the valve.</p>
