An apparatus and a method for processing an image are provided to extract correct edge information without decrease of writing speed while rendering of peripheral pixels except for actually needed drawing pixels is not necessary. An edge information extraction part extracts edge information based on predetermined pixel data written in a memory. An anti-alias process part determines process contents necessary for anti-alias based on the edge information obtained by the edge information extraction part and performs a determined process. The anti-alias process part determines a blended rate and a pixel for a blend adjacent to a pixel on each edge and performs a blend process based on the determined pixel and rate.
