A device for changing a weather-dependent type music-genre mode of a car and a method therefor are provided to sense weather states outside a car, and to convert the sensed states into certain electric signals to output the signals, thereby automatically converting a music-genre mode(jazz mode, lock mode, classic mode, dance mode, and pop mode) according to the sensed weather states. A sensor unit(10) senses weather states including rain, temperature, and moisture signals by being mounted outside a car. A music-genre mode switch(20) determines whether to automatically or manually set a music-genre mode. A controller(30) selects a proper music-genre signal according to the weather states in reference to the signals outputted from the sensor unit(10), and transmits the selected music-genre signal. A sound equalizer driver(40) converts the music-genre mode of an audio system according to the transmitted signal.
