<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print patterns the top and bottom size of which is longer or shorter than the printable length of a printing unit without contacting and separating an impression cylinder to/from a printing cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: The printing units 1a, 1b, 1c comprise the impression cylinders 5 and the printing cylinders in rolling contact with the impression cylinder and has a large diameter part which forms a nip part in rolling contact with the peripheral face of the printing cylinder and a small diameter part setting the nip free, thereby printing an ink image formed on the peripheral face of the large diameter part on the sheet 2 which travels between the impression cylinder and the blanket cylinder. A plurality sets of the printing unit are arranged on the sheet travelling path to keep the sheet feeding speed by the impression cylinder of each printing unit constant, thereby allowing the printing cylinder of each printing unit to be driven with individually driven motors 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d which can individually control the printing cylinders of each printing unit to rotate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
