PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card system which can prohibit a card from being used if the card is used over an amount a user sets. SOLUTION: A maximum amount, which is preliminarily fixed for each user and usable in a certain period of time, and an accumulated usage amount for each user are stored in an IC card IC. A terminal station 2 checks a usage amount with the maximum usage amount when the usage amount is determined by the use of the card. The terminal station 2 rejects the use of the card when the usage amount is over the maximum usage amount, and permits the use of the card and renews the accumulated usage amount to the IC card IC when the usage amount is not over the maximum usage amount.
