CONTROL METHOD FOR IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust an exposure head by accurately measuring a condition akin to actual printing.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with: the exposure head wherein a plurality of light-emitting elements corresponding to pixels of data on an image to be exposed are arranged as a light-emitting element array in a main-scanning direction, and wherein the light-emitting element arrays are arranged in a subscanning direction in such a manner that positions of the light-emitting elements in the main-scanning direction compensate for one another; a light quantity measuring means wherein light-receiving parts capable of detecting light from the light-emitting elements are provided at intervals equivalent to/shorter than a main-scanning-direction arrangement interval between the light-emitting elements, and which measures the quantity of the light emitted from the light-emitting elements and received by the light-receiving parts; and a control means which for controlling an exposure driving condition of each light-emitting element in the formation of the image, in accordance with the result of measurement performed by the light quantity measuring means in the measurement of the quantity of the light. The control means controls the exposure driving condition by adding up the quantities of the light from the arrays of the light-emitting elements, which are detected in the same main-scanning-direction position in the light-receiving part in the measurement of the quantity of the light.
