PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus and a transport mechanism for omitting installation space for an accumulating section to accumulate a recording material ejected after formation of image is completed. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus 1 records an image, by exposing a recording paper to light from a plurality of light sources at different wavelengths based on image data and developing. The apparatus is equipped with a transport mechanism 27b to transport and guide the recording paper, having an image recorded thereon to the upper face of the apparatus and with a recording material accumulating section 61 disposed on the upper face 21a of the apparatus to accumulate the transported paper.
