<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material which is excellent in printing coloring properties and has a surface strength enough to prevent picking or piling even in offset printing or the like, a composition for an undercoat for the thermal recording material which is suitable for the recording material, and a copolymer latex for the undercoat for the thermal recording material which is suitable as a binder component of the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The copolymer latex for the undercoat for the thermal recording material is obtained by copolymerizing a monomer mixture constituted of a conjugated diene monomer of 30-70 wt.%, an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer of 12-30 wt.% and another monomer of 18-58 wt.% being copolymerizable with these monomers. The composition for the undercoat for the thermal recording material contains the latex and a pigment, and the thermal recording material is made by applying the composition on a base material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
