PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding method and a friction stir welding device for securing the welding strength of a product. SOLUTION: Respective tools 2 and 3 are cooled by air jetted from respective air nozzles 4 and 5. Thus, the thermal expansion of the tools 2 and 3 are prevented, and the gap between the upper tool 2 and the lower tool 3 can properly be held. In this way, a friction stir welded 7 having a remaining base sheet thickness T as a proper thickness is formed between the stacked members to be welded, and the welding strength of the product is secured.
