<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the responsiveness of a throttle valve or an EGR control valve when opened. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine comprises a change-over means for change-over between low temperature combustion and normal combustion, a turbocharger 15 using a turbine 23 provided in an engine exhaust passage for driving an intake gas compressor 16 provided in an engine intake passage. An exhaust gas circulation device has an exhaust gas recirculation passage 61, a recirculated exhaust gas control valve 64 for controlling the amount of recirculated exhaust gas flowing in the exhaust gas recirculation passage, and a recirculated exhaust gas compressor 65 to be driven by the turbine 23 for increasing the pressure of the recirculated exhaust gas in the exhaust gas recirculation passage. The recirculated exhaust gas control valve is provided on the downstream side of the recirculated exhaust gas compressor 65 and the throttle valve 20 in the engine intake passage is arranged on the downstream side of an intercooler 14 provided in the engine intake passage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
