PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device profile creating apparatus and a method thereof for carrying out color matching among image output apparatuses providing different white colors and for obtaining proper matching when a target and a matching result are observed side by side. SOLUTION: A color converter includes: a means for acquiring the absolute color characteristic information of a color matching reproduction source image output apparatus and a color matching reproduction destination image output apparatus; a means for calculating relative color characteristic information on the basis of respective absolute color characteristic information items of the reproduction source image output apparatus and the reproduction destination image output apparatus; a means for calculating color conversion purpose color characteristic information from the absolute color characteristic information and relative color characteristic information in the reproduction source image output apparatus and the reproduction destination image output apparatus respectively; a means for using the color conversion purpose color characteristic information to create a device profile; a means for entering an image to which the color conversion is applied; and a means for using the respective device profiles of the reproduction source image output apparatus and the reproduction destination image output apparatus to carry out the color conversion of image data.
