PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for setting appropriate clamping force, by reflecting responsiveness in controlling the clamping force of a continuously variable transmission on a control. SOLUTION: The control device for a continuously variable transmission for controlling the clamping force setting the torque capacity of the continuously variable transmission, includes responsiveness detection means (steps S60, S90, S100) detecting responsiveness of a control mechanism for controlling the clamping force, and control content setting means (steps S110 to S140) setting the control content of the clamping force based on the responsiveness detected by the responsiveness detection means.
