PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box for transporting a glass substrate which can improve a storing capability for the glass substrate to a specified box volume, and can suppress a large bending deformation of the glass substrate even when the box for transporting the glass substrate is laid down sideways. SOLUTION: This box for transporting the glass substrate comprises a closed-bottom box body 2 and a lid body 3 which can open and close an opening of this box body 2. Intermediate parts of longitudinal channels formed between a pair of adjoining guiding rib members 48b being parallel and vertically extending from the opening toward the bottom part of side face pads 48 stuck on a pair of the inner side faces facing to each other of the box body 2 are cut out over a specified length. Side end parts of a plurality of the glass substrates G are stored and supported in these longitudinal channels. When the opening of the box body 2 is closed with the lid body 3, the upper and lower end edges of the glass substrates G are pressed, and both their side end parts are projected toward the cut-out intermediate parts so as to generate forced bending in the glass substrates G.
