MAGNETIC DISK DRIVE HAVING FUNCTION USING THERMAL PROTRUSION AMOUNT FOR FLOATING HEIGHT CONTROL, AND INSPECTION DEVICE HAVING ITS FUNCTION

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a read/write tester or an inspection device in which the state of a floating lowered further than a designed value in write operation can be also considered by using a TPR amount for floating height control and highly reliable floating height control can be carried out under a more sever condition, and simultaneously provided with such a function for measuring the TPR amount. SOLUTION: By a magnetic disk drive or a magnetic disk drive close to an actual machine state in a testing process, the change of the TPR amount caused by the write operation is measured and this result is held on a memory or on the magnetic disk, then the floating height control is carried out by using these data.
