The handles of a pair of pliers (1) for professional use are nowadays covered with a softer outer and a more rigid inner layer in particular in the area accommodated within the hand when used. The new design of a handle cover (2a, 2b) is provided with a convex area (3a, 3b) when looked at from the side positioned slightly below a lateral convex area resulting in a particular good maneuverability when used by a right-handed as well as by a left-handed person. The wrist of the hand can be supported by the straight uncovered outer end (11).
