Heading B2J [Also in Divisions H1 and H2] An electrical ripper, as used is an electrical precipitator, comprises an elongated hammer 36 having a first portion 44 slidable within the tubular spool 4 of a coil 2 energisation and deenergisation of which reciprocates the hammer whose second, enlarged, portion 38 is guided in a tubular casing (26) Fig. 3 by a bearing 48 secured to the portion and having passageways therethrough, Fig. 7, for the passage of air; the coil magnetic flux path is formed by a tubular side 6 surrounding the coil and at the spool ends two end plates 8, 10 abutting the side 6 at notches 14, 20; the two annular volumes 24, (90) Fig. 3 between the coil 2 and side 6, and the latter and the casing 26 are filled with sealants e.g. epoxy resins which also cover the top plate 8 and embed a terminal block 56 for the coil leads. The side 6 and spool 4 are secured to the plates 8, 10 by spread beads of silicone rubber sealant subsequently cured. |
