A novelty bottle opener is made of metal, plastic or any suitable material. The opener (4) is part of a head (2) which is connected to a handle (1) which provides leverage for the opener. The handle is shaped as a whistle with the mouthpiece (6) at the free end. The top of the head is fitted with an eyelet (3) for securing to a string, e.g. a lanyard, or for hanging on a nail or hook. The opener can be provided with promotional markings and labels.
