PURPOSE:To improve the manufacture efficiency, the energy density and the active material utilization rate of a negative cadmium plate for an alkaline storage battery by adding at least one compound selected from among nitrilotriacetic acid and its salts when kneading a given active material powder with a binder and a solvent principally consisting of water. CONSTITUTION:For example, after 100pts. of cadmium oxide (active material powder), 2pts. of methylcellulose (binder), 0.6pts. of nitrilotriacetic acid and 80pts. of water (solvent) are kneaded together to prepare a paste, this paste is applied to a nickel-plated perforated iron plate into a given thickness. Next, the thus obtained body is dried at 90 deg.C and then finally subjected to pressing to control the thickness, thereby making a negative plate. By the means mentioned above, it is possible to increase the manufacture efficiency, the energy density and the active material utilization rate of the negative plate. |
