PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily confirm recorded contents. SOLUTION: A reproduction control unit changes from a normal state A1, where no preview reproduction control processing is being executed, to a timer wait state A2. In the case of a still image style, the reproduction control unit starts a timer and repeats seek and still image display in the timer wait state A2. The reproduction control unit determines whether the timer reaches a fixed time and the next seek position exceeds a seek limitation value in the timer wait state A2, limits (prohibits) the seek to the next seek position when the next seek position is determined to have exceeded the seek limitation value, and stands by temporarily for returning the seek position to the start.
