A chuck has a toolholder socket 2 mounted in a housing 1 by means of a bushing member 6 and a self-aligning bearing 4, drive from the housing 1 being transmitted to the toolholder by a driving member 3 which makes toothed engagement both with the toolholder and the housing and is axially adjustable by means of a screw member 7. The member 7 has a spherical seating in the housing at 8, 10 and is spring loaded at 9. The teeth 11 of the member 3 are arcuately shaped to allow the toolholder to adopt its required position. |
