PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an influence caused by the movement of an object when magnifying a dynamic range in image pickup with a plurality of kinds of exposure times. SOLUTION: A luminance distribution detecting part 7 detects a luminance distribution of a luminance signal SY outputted from a signal processing part 3 and determines an exposure time T for each signal level range in the luminance distribution. The determined exposure times T are notified to a driving part 2 by an exposure time setting signal ST, and the driving part 2 drives an imaging device 1 in response to the exposure time setting signal ST. In the imaging device 1, the exposure times T determined by the luminance distribution detecting part 7 are sequentially set and each time exposure is performed for each of the exposure times, scanning is performed and an image signal is outputted. The image signals by the exposure times are obtained in a time series. In the signal processing part 3, these image signals are converted into synchronized signals for a predetermined time length by a memory 4, weighted as predetermined, and added in an adder part 5.
